Fire extinguishers offer the chance to escape a fire safely, and can stop flames before they get out of control. With proper training by professionals, fire extinguishers can be an integral part of your business’s fire protection plan. Just keeping them on-site is not enough to protect your commercial kitchen and those who work in it; extinguishers must be thoroughly inspected on a routine basis.

How Often Should Fire Extinguishers Be Inspected?

Guidelines for fire extinguisher inspection are set by the NFPA and enforced by OSHA. It is necessary that you develop a routine on-site inspection with your own personnel on a monthly basis, checking for any visual signs of damage or discharge, improper tagging, etc. We follow all guidelines to ensure that every box is checked by the NFPA and OSHA.

Yearly inspections performed by a trained, certified fire protection specialist must do an inspection of your fire extinguishers.

Fire Extinguisher Inspections & Testing

We believe fire extinguisher inspections and testing can prevent significant fire damage and help save lives. With routine servicing, you can rest assured that your extinguishers are code-compliant and ready to use in an emergency.

During an inspection, we’ll make sure the cylinders and all related parts meet the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), state and local codes, and your insurance company. We’ll provide you with a detailed fire extinguisher inspection report for your records.

In addition to inspections, we also conduct fire extinguisher cylinder testing in accordance with rules set by the Department of Transportation (DOT). This process, known as hydrostatic testing, checks the structural integrity of your cylinders to ensure their safety and effectiveness in fighting fires.

To learn more about our testing, contact us by either calling (800)968-2871 or reaching out to us online.
